Later A. V. bought out his brother Wray and A. V. Dedmon Trucking, Inc. was founded. The business was located on South Morgan Street near the Southern Railway Station in Shelby. Much of the work was hauling freight from boxcars to local businesses, including paper to the Shelby Daily Star office, flour to Bost and Waldensian Bakeries, and freight to most of the merchants in Shelby.
